robot cleaner will sweep and vacuum your floors without having to be involved. It also leaves them spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are positives.
Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large debris and clean them as required. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or going to school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud which could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
